The Country Food Similarity Index groups the countries of Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Madagascar, and Sierra Leone into the African Ricefield food region. In addition, food in the nations of Haiti, East Timor, and Gambia also has a lot in common with this region. It is one of the 23 world food sub-regions identified by the Index.

Rice and cassava are the two most common food ingredients in this region. These countries often incorporate a variety of spices and herbs, with a significant emphasis on seafood due to their coastal locations.
